THE Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) management announced in a statement released today, that 12 tertiary institutions owned by state governments have been included in the student loan application process.
According to the statement signed by the fund’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Nasir Ayitogo, the inclusion of these institutions followed the successful submission and verification of data completeness.
The statement highlighted the expansion of participating state government-owned tertiary institutions from the initial 36 to 48 with this recent addition.
It also mentioned that data from 121 institutions is still pending submission.
The Fund emphasized the importance of institutions promptly submitting their students’ data to the Student Verification Portal to allow their students to access the scheme’s benefits.
Additionally, it urged states with uploaded data to encourage their students to apply, emphasizing the dual benefits of providing financial relief to struggling students and generating guaranteed revenue for the institutions.
