12 passengers burnt in Lagos-Ibadan expressway accident

Ogun 1

TWELVE passengers suffered burns in an accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway involving a Mazda bus with the registration number DDA733 XA, near Malo in the Ogere area.

Spokesperson for the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, reported yesterday that four additional passengers sustained injuries.

The injured individuals were transported to Patmag Hospital in Ogere. Okpe revealed that the likely cause of the single-vehicle crash was the bus driver’s improper overtaking, which resulted in a loss of control, causing the bus to collide with the road divider and catch fire around 3 PM.

The Sector Commander of the Ogun Sector Command, Akinwunmi Fasakin, expressed concern regarding the reckless behavior of some drivers on the highway who disregard traffic regulations.

In the statement, he extended condolences to the families of the crash victims and wished a swift recovery to the injured.
