New Delhi: In the first match of IPL 2023 season Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings The result of the collision was the same as it was in the previous season. Gujarat Titans win in the last over. Hardik Pandya’s team, playing as champions for the first time in front of home fans at their home ground, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, defeated Chennai by 5 wickets. Four-time champion Chennai captain MS Dhoni was defeated by Hardik’s team for the third time in a row. After the match, captain Dhoni expressed grief over what is considered a crime in cricket, especially in the T20 format.
Gujarat made their debut last season and won both their matches against that season’s defending champions Chennai. Both these matches were drawn till the last over, where even the strategies of ‘Captain Cool’ Dhoni could not avoid Chennai’s defeat. Something similar happened this time too. In the last over, once again Gujarat snatched away the chance of victory from Chennai and completed their hat-trick against them.

Free-hit boundary
Young pacer Rajvardhan Hungergekar bowled the first no ball in his very first over (fourth over of the innings) of the IPL. When he got a free hit on this, in an attempt to escape, he put the next ball wide. The free hit was intact and he was hit for a boundary. Means 6 runs on one ball. Then in the very next over, Tushar Deshpande also made the mistake of no ball, on which 1 more run was found. Instead, Shubman Gill hit a six on the free hit he got. Means 8 runs came on this one ball. In this way, only 2 balls gave CSK the pain of 14 runs.
In comparison, only one no ball was bowled by Mohammed Shami from Gujarat, but his free hit did not hit any boundary. In such a situation, the displeasure of Chennai captain Dhoni is natural.
