Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has described reports that he has withdrawn the court case against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and allowed the party to go ahead with its planned National Convention in Ibadan as fake news.
The former Governor said the court has ruled in his favour that the Ibadan convention can not proceed as he has been denied his right to contest the PDP National Chairmanship position at the event.
Lamido, in a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Friday, denied claims that he met with the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and withdrew the court case.
He said he began receiving several calls from PDP members across the country after the false story began spreading, but urged members of the public to disregard it.
“I urge members to note that the story attributed to me is false. The Federal High Court today, at about 2:30 p.m., delivered a judgment affirming my right to contest the Chairmanship of the PDP, which was earlier denied me,” Lamido stated.
He added that the court order prohibiting the November 15 and 16 Ibadan convention remains in place, and the PDP, as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), have been duly notified.
“Certified order stopping the Ibadan Convention has already been delivered to INEC and the PDP,” he added.
He condemned the report, claiming that he withdrew the case because it is malicious and misleading, reiterating that he remains committed to pursuing his legal rights within the party.
