Several activities have been announced to mark the 2025 Ilobu-Asake Day celebration in Ilobu, area of Osun State.
The President of the Ilobu-Asake Development Union (IDU), Pastor Olufemi Salako, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Ilobu on Monday.
Salako explained that the celebration would feature a series of programs, including a health outreach for adults, a health talk for teenagers, and a fundraising event aimed at supporting community development projects in Ilobu.
He revealed that Governor Ademola Adeleke is expected to lead a host of dignitaries to the celebration and fundraising program. Other notable personalities expected include the Asiwaju of Ilobu Land, Chief Azeez Kolade, and the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Lasun Yussuf.
Salako noted that although peace has gradually returned to the area after past crises, the community still bears the scars of destruction. He appealed to the Osun State Government to provide relief for residents who were severely affected by the conflict and whose properties, worth over two billion naira, were destroyed.
He added that several businesses and families were displaced during the unrest, calling for government intervention to help restore livelihoods and resettle affected persons in the two local government areas.
The IDU president emphasized the need for unity and reconciliation, urging residents to work together for lasting peace and collective progress. He noted that Ilobu is ready to champion a new era of harmony and development in the region.
Salako further called on investors to take advantage of the town’s opportunities, describing Ilobu as an agrarian community with a vibrant youth population, welcoming residents, and strategic proximity to the Osun State capital.
