2027: Atiku Can Anoint Peter Obi To Win ADC Presidential Ticket – Yakasai

The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yinusa Tanko Yakasai, has dismissed speculations that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar can become a hindrance to the emergence of Peter Obi as the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Speaking on TVC’s Politics On Sunday, Yakasai submitted that Atiku can even support Obi to pick the ADC presidential candidate.

The Obidient Movement leader described Atiku as a father and leader, stressing that as much as the former Vice President has a right to contest, he can also support another candidate to emerge.

Naijaonpoint reports that Yakasai made the statement in response to the question on what would happen if Atiku prevented Peter Obi from securing the ADC ticket.

He said, “Atiku Abubakar is a leader, he is a father. He will not even join in that shenanigan.

“He has the right (to contest) but he also has the right to anoint somebody. He can, it is within his fundamental human rights as a father who wants to win.

“Winning does not mean I have to be the one, winning can be me taking you and say go and win for us, I know you are capable. It is possible.”

Both Atiku and Obi are seen as frontline aspirants to clinch the ADC presidential ticket for 2027, but there have been growing discussions over who might eventually emerge as the party’s flagbearer.

Supporters of the former Anambra State Governor have consistently insisted that Obi would not settle for anything less than a presidential ticket for 2027, with the former Labour Party presidential candidate also assuring that he would be on the ballot for the election.
