A former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said that he has no immediate plans to contest the presidency in 2027, insisting that he is not currently seeking any elective office.
El-Rufai made the clarification during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, where he addressed speculation about his political future and the state of the nation.
“I have said this over and over, I’m not a candidate for any office. I would have been in Egypt pursuing my PhD, but because I contributed to putting this government in place, I am still here to correct the decision,” he said.
When pressed on whether he would join the 2027 presidential race, the former governor responded, “For now, I am not running.”
