2027: Oluyole Imams, Alfas Endorse Akeem Olatunji For House Of Reps

IBADAN – The League of Imams and Alfas in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State has declared its support for the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, ahead of his bid to represent Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced during a meeting held at Olatunji’s private residence in Sanyo, Ibadan, on Thursday, where Islamic clerics from across the ten wards of the local government pledged their loyalty and support to his aspiration.

Speaking on behalf of the League, its Chairman, Alhaji Taliat Abdulazeez, described Olatunji as a benefactor and longstanding supporter of the Muslim community, noting that his relationship with the clerics extends beyond politics.

According to Abdulazeez, the title of Babasale Musulumi of Oluyole earlier conferred on Olatunji reflects his commitment to the welfare of Muslims and religious leaders within the local government.

“You are one of us. We deeply appreciate your kindness and unwavering support. You have achieved what no one has ever done in the history of the Oluyole League of Imams,” he said.

The cleric assured Olatunji of the League’s total support ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election, expressing confidence in his ability to secure victory.

The religious leaders also commended the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, citing what they described as significant infrastructural development and economic progress across Oyo State. They pledged continued support for the governor’s political ideals and governance model.

Similarly, the Chairman of the League of Imams and Alfas in Akorede Local Council Development Area, Sheikh Jamiu Ibiyemi, offered prayers for Olatunji and expressed optimism about his political future.

Ibiyemi said Olatunji’s commitment to public welfare and support for religious institutions had earned him widespread goodwill across the constituency.

“No one can continue to do good for the people without God rewarding and elevating him. It is your time to go to Abuja, and we will support this project to the end,” he said.

Also speaking, Hon. AbdulKabir Popoola praised Olatunji’s leadership qualities and administrative competence, describing him as a visionary leader whose impact has extended beyond Oluyole Local Government.

Responding, Olatunji expressed gratitude to the clerics for their prayers and endorsement, describing the declaration of support as both humbling and encouraging.

The council chairman noted that the meeting was his first formal engagement with any group since declaring his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat.

He reaffirmed his commitment to service, inclusiveness and the continued development of Oluyole Federal Constituency, assuring the clerics that he would not take their support for granted.
