2027: ‘Peter Obi Wants To Be President But They Want Him To Be Vice President’ – Presidency

Peter Obi and Onanuga

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has asserted that the Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, wants to be president, but the 2027 coalition of opposition political figures wants him to be vice president.

Naijaonpoint reports that Onanuga made this known while speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Thursday.

Peter Obi, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and some prominent politicians are currently part of the opposition coalition that has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to unseat Tinubu in 2027.

Currently, Peter Obi, a former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as well as Atiku, have hinted at running for the presidency in 2027.

However, Onanuga warned Peter Obi against agreeing to a joint ticket with Atiku in 2027.

The presidential aide stated that Obi will not receive the same kind of blind followership he garnered in 2023 if he runs with Atiku in 2027.

He noted that despite their permutations, Tinubu will remain in power in 2027.

He said, “If Peter Obi allies with Atiku in 2027, he will not get the blind followership he received in 2023; it will not happen because he wants to be president and they want him to be Vice President.

“That is why when I look at it, they are just trying their luck, trying all kinds of permutations but the APC will still be in power in 2027.”
