2027: ‘Stay In Labour Party, Don’t Chase Two Rabbits’ – Shehu Sani Advises Peter Obi

Peter Obi and Shehu Sani

A former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has urged former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, to remain in the Labour Party (LP).

Recall that Obi was the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).

He came third behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), respectively.

However, the Labour Party has faced a series of internal crises since the conclusion of the last election, with two factions claiming control of the party.

Obi has been at the centre of discussions surrounding the party’s future following the leadership battle.

Despite these challenges, Obi has maintained his position within the LP, distancing himself from recent discussions that have suggested his potential move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as part of an opposition coalition in the build-up to the 2027 general elections.

Shehu Sani’s Birthday Advice To Peter Obi

Joining the host of other Nigerians in celebrating Obi’s 64th birthday on Saturday (today), Sani, a former Senator from Kaduna State, advised the former Governor to consider staying in the Labour Party.

“Happy Birthday to Mr Peter Obi. My advice, hold thy Labour, it’s the Devil you know. Don’t chase two rabbits at the same time,” Sani wrote on his official 𝕏 handle, urging Obi to avoid switching platforms amidst the ongoing political uncertainties.
