A social commentator and brother of former Ekiti State governor, Isaac Fayose, has claimed that neither the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, nor Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, can win Rivers State for the All Progressives Congress (APC) or President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election without electoral manipulation.
Naijaonpoint reports that Fayose made the assertion in a video posted on his Facebook page on Saturday, where he reacted to the lingering political crisis in Rivers State, speaking in a mix of English and Pidgin.
He said, “Make we no deceive ourselves, both Wike and Fubara, none of them can win Rivers election for APC or Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 without rigging. The only person that can win Rivers State for Tinubu is Independent National Electoral Commission and the Police, not Fubara and not Wike.”
According to Fayose, the rift between the former governor and his successor has little to do with governance or the interest of Rivers people, but rather a struggle over control of state resources.
He alleged, “Wike and Fubara are fighting for Rivers’ resources. Fubara has saved a lot of money, and Wike is looking at this money. That is what they are fighting for.”
Fayose further argued that neither camp enjoys the grassroots backing required to secure victory for the APC in the state, especially if the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, remains on the ballot in 2027.
“If Peter Obi is on the ballot, neither Wike nor Fubara can get 25 per cent of the total votes cast for APC in Rivers State,” he claimed.
He also dismissed recent political tours and outreach efforts by the rival camps as ineffective, describing them as attempts to sway voters through financial inducements rather than genuine popular support.
Fayose said, “All the tours they have been doing to grease people’s hands in poverty are not up to 30,000 people. The real voters in Rivers State are just looking at them.”
