Cyriel Dessers has bagged his 26th goal of the 2024–25 season in all competitions as Rangers cruised to a 4–0 home win over Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, Footynaija.com reports.

The 30-year-old striker scored again to help Philippe Clement’s side stay right on the heels of Celtic in the Scottish title race. His goal against Aberdeen brings his league tally to 18 this season, showing just how dangerous he has become inside the box.

Dessers has now recorded 26 goals across all fronts: 18 in the Premiership, and the other 8 spread between the UEFA Europa League and Scottish Cup.

Despite this outstanding form, Dessers has been missing from Nigeria’s recent squads, including the March 2025 double-header under new Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle. While the national team enjoyed a win over Rwanda and drop points against Zimbabwe, the former Feyenoord striker was not in the squad.

It raises a fresh debate about what more Dessers need to do to earn a recall. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers continuing later this year, Chelle may need to take a closer look at the Rangers man, who has now outscored several other Nigerian forwards in Europe this season.

His strong performances are not just about goals. Dessers has always shown improved movement, link-up play, and leadership in the attacking third. Rangers fans have taken to him, and with every goal, he sends another clear message to the Super Eagles coaching staff.

If Dessers finishes the season with over 30 goals, leaving him among Europe’s most productive strikers, the Super Eagles will have a serious decision to make ahead of their next international fixtures.
