A 29-year-old man, Olomi Dada, has been arrested by operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, over the alleged theft of iron rods from the palace of the traditional ruler of Odigbo in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
Dada was paraded alongside other suspects by the security outfit in Akure, the state capital, on Monday.
The suspect reportedly came to the palace after he was engaged to perform some work at the premises. It was during the assignment that he allegedly sighted the iron rods kept within the palace grounds.
Dada reportedly returned to the premises later, believing that no one was present, and allegedly attempted to cart away the materials.
His plan was said to have been foiled when Amotekun operatives caught him at the palace while allegedly attempting to remove the iron rods.
The suspect reportedly admitted that he had earlier noticed the materials at the palace before returning to take them.
The state Amotekun Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said during the parade that all the suspects would be thoroughly investigated before being charged to court where necessary.
Adeleye warned residents against engaging in criminal acts, stressing that the corps would sustain its efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
