Three Malawians have been listed among the nominees for this year’s Young Achievers Africa Awards, an event that recognizes exceptional young talents across the continent.
Musicians Onesimus and Emmie Deebo, along with media personality Priscilla Kayira, have made it to the final selection of nominees set to compete in various categories.
Onesimus, a celebrated Malawian artist, has been nominated for Best Young Achiever Artist of the Year and Best Music Video of the Year. Meanwhile, rising star Emmie Deebo, known for her hit song Sheli Banana, will compete in the Best Upcoming Artist of the Year and Best Rising Star of the Year categories.
Priscilla Kayira, a journalist recently appointed as an ambassador for BetWay, has secured nominations for Best Young Achiever Media Personality of the Year and Best Young Achiever TV Personality of the Year.
Reacting to the nominations, Laurent Kwakwala, who supports Emmie Deebo’s music career, expressed excitement, stating that the recognition is a huge motivation for young Malawian artists.
The Young Achievers Africa Awards aim to celebrate and promote young African talents excelling in various fields. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, in April 2025.
