Four soldiers of the Nigerian Military have been killed in a recent ambush by terrorists of the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)
The soldiers, according to Sahara Reporters were killed in an ambush which occurred on Saturday along the Gwoza/Bitta Road in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno state.
It was gathered that Military sources said the terrorists stole and burnt vehicles and weapons belonging to the military during the attack.
According to the sources, the affected troops were on patrol and were conducting a clearance of some terrorists operating in the location when the criminals ambushed them.
The report also stated that an internal military memo confirmed that the attack led to the death of four soldiers while three others were injured.
“On 04 October, 2025, at approximately 0845hrs, along the Gwoza–Bitta road in Gwoza LGA, Borno State, information was received that a Nigerian Army convoy was ambushed by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists,” the military memo read.
According to the memo, the corpses of the late soldiers have been deposited at the Maimalari Cantonment at the time of reporting.
Since 2019, Boko Haram have continued to kill and maim citizens in a litany of attacks in the North-Eastern region of the country.
