Speaking on Arise TV on Friday February 13 2026, El-Rufai said he was approached by a well-dressed DSS officer who requested that he report to their office. He asked for a formal invitation letter, which was not immediately provided.
He recounted that as he navigated immigration, around 50 DSS agents appeared with instructions to detain or abduct him. El-Rufai firmly refused to comply without proper documentation, stating that he would not move without an official invitation.
The former governor emphasized that he stood his ground despite the intimidating presence of heavily armed operatives, highlighting concerns about democratic rights and lawful procedure.
