President Bola Tinubu addressed Nigerians on Wednesday on the occasion of the country’s 65th independence anniversary.

Naijaonpoint reports that President Tinubu addressed Nigerians in a nationwide broadcast, which began at 7:00 a.m.

Below are some of the major highlights from the President’s Independence Day broadcast.

1. President Tinubu paid tributes to Nigeria’s founding heroes and heroines, commending them for believing in Nigeria’s manifest destiny to lead the entire black race as the largest black nation on earth.

2. In sixty-five years of existence, President Tinubu submitted that Nigeria has grown in all sectors, including healthcare, infrastructure, financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications, information technology, aviation and defence, among others.

3. He observed that just like every other country in the world, Nigeria has experienced both the good and the bad times in its 65 years of nationhood.

4. President Tinubu reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to ensuring a positive economic turnaround, submitting that he inherited an economy in comatose but in less than three years, has implemented policies and programmes which have set the country on the path to recovery and stability.

He noted that reforms started over two years ago are delivering tangible results.

5. The President noted that there have been significant improvements in areas of security and Nigeria is winning the war against terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes while peace has been restored in many hitherto troubled areas.

6. To the youths, President Tinubu described them as the future and the greatest assets of Nigeria.

He urged them to continue dreaming big, innovating, and conquering more territories, assuring them that his administration, through its policies and funding, would continue to provide the necessary support.

7. To every Nigerian, President Tinubu acknowledged that the reforms being implemented by the current administration have brought a level of pain and hardship, but assured that the pain and hardship are only temporary and necessary to usher in better days.

8. He noted that hope is on the horizon and urged all Nigerians to join his administration in repositioning Nigeria as a prosperous and self-reliant country.
