Shock and grief have engulfed the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Makindu campus after a female student allegedly stabbed her girlfriend to death following a suspected love triangle.
According to reports from fellow students, the incident occurred late last night after a heated confrontation between the two lovers. The suspect is said to have discovered that her partner was involved in a romantic relationship with another lady within the same institution.
Witnesses claim that an argument broke out in one of the hostels before it turned violent. The suspect allegedly drew a knife and fatally stabbed her girlfriend multiple times before attempting to flee the scene. Other students rushed to the victim’s aid, but she succumbed to her injuries before she could be taken to the hospital.
Police officers from Makindu Police Station arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect, who is currently in custody as investigations continue. The body of the deceased has been moved to the Makindu Sub-County Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
The shocking incident has sparked debate within the institution, with students calling for increased guidance and counseling programs to help address rising cases of emotional violence among young people.
Authorities have urged students to seek peaceful ways of resolving personal disputes and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
The KMTC administration is expected to issue an official statement as investigations into the tragic incident continue.
