A vast outage temporarily affected access to the social network on Thursday Twitter, in particular in the United States and in Europe where several users found themselves confronted with an error message, before the apparent restoration of the service.
The extent of the outage was not immediately known and the platform did not immediately respond to a request from AFP. But the Downdetector site has identified nearly 55,000 reports of Internet users prevented from using the platform, the first having appeared around 11:50 a.m. Paris time. The breakdown seems to have lasted 30 minutes and in the middle of the afternoon, things are back to normal.
Sensitive period for Twitter
Outages regularly disrupt digital platforms, with long service interruptions remaining the exception. This technical hitch comes at a sensitive time for the group, which this week entered into a legal battle with Elon Musk.
Twitter wants to force the multi-billionaire to honor the agreement he signed in April, when he announced his intention to buy the platform for 44 billion dollars, before withdrawing last week.
