Aaron Hall Goes “Missing” as Shocking 1991 Assault Lawsuit Stalls

R&B singer Aaron Hall, a member of the group Guy, is reportedly avoiding process servers tied to a civil lawsuit that accuses him and Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexual assault.

Hall was named in a 2023 lawsuit filed by Liza Gardner, who alleges she was assaulted in 1991 when she was 16. According to the complaint, Gardner says Combs gave her alcohol and forced her to perform sexual acts in Hall’s New Jersey apartment. She alleges that Hall later “burst into the room,” assaulted her, and left her feeling “shocked and traumatized.”

Gardner’s attorney, Tyrone A. Blackburn, has spent more than a year attempting to serve Hall with legal documents, but those efforts have so far failed. Court filings state that Hall is legally considered “missing,” meaning he cannot be located to receive the papers, not that he is a missing person.

Process servers first tried to reach Hall at a View Park, California, address in June 2024, where residents reportedly said he had moved. In March 2025, Blackburn asked a judge for permission to serve Hall by publication, calling it a last resort. That request would allow notices to be printed in newspapers and mailed to Hall’s last known addresses.

Later that year, a private investigator was hired to search databases and canvass locations Hall was known to frequent, but after at least 10 attempts, no confirmed leads were found.

Hall has not publicly responded to the lawsuit, which cannot fully proceed until he is formally served.
