Abia: Details of closed-door meeting between Gov Ikpeazu, Orji Kalu emerge

Kalu meets Ikpeazu

The details of the closed-door meeting between Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the leader of the main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), in Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, emerged.

DAILY POST earlier reported that Governor Ikpeazu had received Senator Kalu, Chief Whip of Nigerian Senate at his Umuobiakwa country home at Obinngwa LGA, Abia State during the weekend.

Revealing the outcome of the closed-door meeting between the two Abia leaders, which were contained in a release issued in Umuahia, the state capital, and made available to DAILY POST on Sunday, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barrister Eze Chikamnayo, quoted Senator Kalu as commending Ikpeazu for the security and peace that was witnessed throughout the Christmas period and New Year festivities attributed this feat to exceptional ingenuity of the governor in galvanizing human and material resources for the common good.

“He observed that as he drove to Obingwa, he was elated by the quality roads that crisscrossed the landscape together with other numerous achievements in the area of SME development, Youth Empowerment, Sports, Agriculture, Education amongst others, thanking Governor Ikpeazu for his untiring efforts towards rebuilding and repositioning Abia for the good of all Abia people.

“Kalu also requested Ikpeazu to extend his caterpillar revolution to the Umuahia-Bende-Akara-Igbere-Ohafua expressway; which the federal government has refused to reconstruct despite repeated appeals by him to the authorities at the federal Ministry of Works.

Continuing, Mr. Chikamnayo further quoted Governor Ikpeazu as reminding his visitor that the essence of leadership is to serve the people and reiterated that his style of leadership is devoid of bitterness and unnecessary bickering.

“He appreciated his guest and called on other Abia elites to cooperate with the government in its bid to take Abia to the next level.

“The Governor asserted that he is looking for how to woo all the disgruntled people who are not satisfied with their own party into PDP, a Party Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu said remains the only viable platform that holds the key to the peace and prosperity of Nigeria”, the press release concluded.

Presidential campaign posters of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State have emerged.

Wike’s campaign posters were sighted in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

...ers were sighted on Monday at some traffic kiosks along airports road, Asokoro and the Federal Secretariat.

...ers had the tag: “Here to serve 2023: Barr Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for president.”

...ers were sponsored by “Northerners For Change Group”.

However, the governor who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is yet to declare his intentions to contest for the presidency.

Meanwhile, Bola Tinubu, Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress, among others, have declared their intentions to run for the office of the president in 2023.

Amid APC crisis, Amosun joins Abiodun to welcome Buhari in Ogun [PHOTOS]

Despite the lingering crisis between him and the incumbent Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, former Governor Ibikunle Amosun has joined his successor to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari to the state.

Buhari has arrived at the Gateway State to commission some projects executed by the Gov Abiodun administration.

As the state awaited the arrival of the President, Amosun surprisingly appeared at the venue with the Senator representing Ogun West, Tolu Odebiyi.

DAILY POST reports that the duo of Amosun and Abiodun has been at loggerheads over the structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

On October 16, loyalists of the two old friends-turned-foes conducted parallel APC state congresses in the state.

A reconciliation committee was in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Friday to look into the rift between the two groups.

Meanwhile, Ogun residents have expressed optimism that Amosun’s presence at Abiodun’s projects commissioning may mark an end to the feud between both of them.
