Ebun Hodo, the stunning Nigerian actress and fashion designer, exudes grace and creativity both on and off the screen.
As the holiday season approaches, she shares her thoughts with Naijatimes on her dream Christmas, cherished childhood memories, and how she plans to spend the festive period.
For Ebun, Christmas is about finding the perfect balance. “My dream Christmas is all about being surrounded by loved ones in a cozy, snow-dusted setting with a roaring fireplace,” she says. But she wouldn’t mind sneaking away to a tropical beach either. “Honestly, it’s more about the people I’m with than the place. And no work emails! Just good food, laughter, and a little Mariah Carey playing in the background.”
Reflecting on the fond memories of her childhood, despite growing up in a Jehovah’s Witness home where Christmas wasn’t celebrated traditionally, she recalled “My mom and aunties, who had left the church, would come back home and spice up everywhere. Those innocent, wonder-filled Christmases are something I’ll always cherish.”
As the year winds down, Ebun is embracing the spirit of gratitude. “This Christmas, I’m grateful for health, family, and the chance to take a moment to breathe and reflect,” she says. “Life can be so fast-paced, and the holidays remind me to slow down and appreciate the little things, like the joy in a child’s eyes or sharing a quiet moment with loved ones.”
When it comes to Christmas food, Ebun is unapologetically enthusiastic. “Oh, I’m a sucker for a classic Christmas pudding! Meat to be precise. And, of course, some yummy eba to go with it,” she says, laughing.
Ebun’s plans for this Christmas are a mix of relaxation and celebration. “This year, I’m planning a little family time at home with good food and Christmas movies,” she explains. She also hopes to host a small holiday get-together with close friends. “But everywhere choke! I’ll do the little I can,” she added.
