Nollywood actress and former BBNaija star Eriata Ese has come for a lady for criticising those who give birth outside wedlock.
The lady critic had cried out over the alarming rate at which women give birth without getting married.
“Every girl just dey born anyhow without being married”.
Making a case for them, she said that although marriage is a good thing, many people don’t know why others choose a certain path. Eriata noted how the female critic doesn’t know her last trauma or whether she has trust or anger issues, and is trying to heal from it.
The movie star noted how people tell women in their 30s to have kids, even if they can’t find a husband, and then condemn them when they finally do. She further noted that when they finally find love, people question whether the man didn’t find younger girls to date.
“In as much as marriage is a good thing. Some people don’t think of wondering why a person chose a certain path. You don’t know my past, you don’t know if I have trust or anger issues I’m trying to heal from.
You don’t know if I’m taking my time to study who I want to end up with, you don’t know if there’s something I’m waiting for to click before I say yes, I want to marry, you don’t know my fears and worries, and you don’t know if I’m mentally ready.
You don’t know if I’m working on myself to be someone’s peace and trophy. All y’all want to do is get on that keypad and type rubbish because commenting is free, so you step on your brain before typing. Mad people everywhere.
You’ll hear them shouting, ‘once you are 30+ and no husband, just have your kids.’ When you go ahead to have kids, they’ll say, ‘Where is the father? Oh, no husband? Hmmm, single mother.
When you choose to wait on the Lord and now, clock 40+, you’ll hear, ‘Oh, just look at you; as beautiful as you are, you don’t even have at least 1 child, even if you didn’t see your husband.
When God finally brings love/husband, you’ll now hear, ‘The guy didn’t see younger girls; what is he doing with a single mother?’
And what’s flabbergasting in all of this, the majority of the people saying these things are women”.
During a bitter exchange with a troll, the former BBNaija star said marriage isn’t a flex, and questioned what the critic had achieved with her marriage certificate.
Clarifying her statement, in a follow-up post, she said she would never say marriage wasn’t a flex in a serious conversation, as she grew up in a loving home and knows how important family is. Eriata said only a damaged person will say a good marriage isn’t a flex.
