The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State, Hamza Bello Madagali, has resigned his membership of the party alongside the entire state executive council and chairmen of the party across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
Naijaonpoint reports that the mass resignation was announced on Friday at the party secretariat in Yola, where Madagali addressed journalists.
Madagali said the decision followed what he described as wide-ranging consultations with party stakeholders and grassroots leaders across Adamawa State.
According to him, the move represents a collective and unanimous position of the party leadership at both the state and local government levels.
“This decision is a product of extensive consultations among stakeholders and leaders at the grassroots,” he stated.
He stressed that executives across the 21 LGAs had unanimously agreed to resign their membership of the PDP.
Meanwhile, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, had earlier left the PDP and defected to the ruling defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Naijaonpoint reports that the governor made this known on Friday during a broadcast to the people of the state.
He announced that his decision to defect was not taken alone, as members of his cabinet and other key officials of the Peoples Democratic Party in Adamawa State also moved with him to the APC.
Fintiri explained that the move was based on what he described as the need to advance the growth and progress of Adamawa State.
Before Fintiri’s defection, a large group of lawmakers in the Adamawa State House of Assembly resigned from the PDP.
