The senatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the upcoming Edo Central District by-election, Sergius Ogun, has reiterated the determination of the party to oust the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
Ogun said the wish of the APC is to destroy all opposition parties and just write the 2027 election results; however, the ADC would not allow that to happen.
Speaking on Thursday during an interview on ARISE News, the ADC candidate stressed the readiness of the party to challenge the APC by presenting a credible alternative for Nigerians.
He also lamented what he described as a dangerous erosion of opposition under the current administration, adding that the ADC is ready to challenge the ruling party.
“The ADC right now, as you know, is the only opposition party in this country.
“What the government in power today wants is they just want everybody to roll over and then they will write the 2027 result. And we are saying it ain’t going to happen. It will not happen in this country. The country belongs to all of us,” he said.
Naijaonpoint reports that Ogun affirmed the determination of the ADC coalition to unseat the APC in 2027, submitting that Nigerians are already tired of the Bola Tinubu administration.
“We know we have not had good government from the people in power today, and we will send them packing.
“So ADC is a child of necessity. It had to come up,” Ogun explained. “People that knew this president very well kind of envisage that this was going to happen, that they’re going to stifle opposition in this country,” he declared.
