The Abia State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its Chairman, Mr. Don Norman Obinna.

Naijaonpoint reports that this follows complaints about his leadership style and alleged violation of party rules.

The decision came after petitions from party members accused him of acting unilaterally, mismanaging party resources, and ignoring party principles.

The suspension was announced during a harmonisation meeting of all ADC factions at the Nobik International Event Centre in Aba on Friday.

The meeting aimed to settle disputes, align leadership positions, and strengthen the party’s presence across the state.

Party officials encouraged members to actively engage with grassroots supporters to increase membership and maintain the party’s influence.

The Interim Chairman, Mazi Okoroafor Kanu, explained that the suspension followed repeated concerns about Obinna’s conduct, including alleged sale of party vehicles and unilateral decision-making during meetings.

He said that the party’s executive and committee members were often excluded from key decisions.

A disciplinary committee, chaired by the Deputy Chairman, Mazi Kanu, has been set up to investigate the allegations against Obinna.

He will be invited to respond to the complaints before the committee reaches a conclusion.

Several prominent party figures attended the meeting, including Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Etigwe Uwa, Uwaoma Olewengwa, Okey Ezeala, and Barrister Kalu Kalu Agu.

The ADC leadership stressed that the suspension is a step toward restoring proper governance within the state chapter and ensuring the party’s growth and stability.
