Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is positioned for major political advancement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Atiku, who completed his formal registration as a party member on Thursday in Yola, Adamawa, made the statement public in a post shared on the social platform 𝕏, on Friday.

The former Vice President shared photographs of himself receiving his ADC membership card alongside a customised Waziri 01 branded jersey, a gesture that added colour and symbolism to the brief event.

Naijaonpoint reports that the registration ceremony, though short, pulled in a visible crowd of party leaders, community figures, youth groups, and loyal supporters across Adamawa.

Highlighting the party’s widening national reach, Atiku pointed to ADC’s grassroots consolidation across regions. Reaffirming the ongoing nationwide movement, he wrote: “Yesterday, the ADC train made a stopover in Jalingo for the unveiling of the Taraba State secretariat of the Coalition Party.

“There’s no stopping the ADC; it is heading your way.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the publisher of Ovation magazine, Dele Momodu, implored key opposition figures to form a strategic alliance with former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, describing the move as a necessary “rescue mission” for Nigeria. Jada

Momodu spoke as the keynote speaker at the closing lecture of a week-long celebration in Jada, organised to mark Abubakar’s birthday, during which he traced the former Vice-President’s political journey while highlighting his democratic credentials and disposition to non-violence.

A statement by Abubakar’s media office quoted Momodu as saying, “During the 1993 SDP primary, Atiku stepped down for my adopted father, MKO Abiola. This allowed him (Abiola) to win the ticket.

“Atiku is not a common politician; he has been betrayed many times and always chooses peace and patience.

“Atiku is not a violent politician; you will never see him parade thugs around him. Little wonder God has given him excellent health in addition to success in business.

“Atiku is pursuing his ambition with clarity, without violence.”

The publisher also said Abubakar’s legal battles, filed and fought over election outcomes, have strengthened Nigeria’s constitutional law direction.

Momodu also warned against discouraging quality leadership in critical national moments.

“When we refuse to encourage good people, the worst amongst us thrive,” he said.
