The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Turaki, has insisted that the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has not dumped the party.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja after the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting, Turaki stated that despite the trending reports of Adeleke’s resignation from the PDP, the party is yet to receive an official communication from the Osun State Governor.
He added that Adeleke is one of the aspirants contesting the PDP ticket for the Osun 2026 governorship election.
He also confirmed that the NWC had reviewed and approved the congresses in Osun State conducted to select ad-hoc delegates.
“As I speak to you now, primaries are ongoing… Governor Adeleke’s name is one of the aspirants vying for the ticket.
“Our power, our strength, is not in who are members of the National Assembly or who are the governors of our party. It is in the people, and that is why the PDP is the People’s Party,” he said.
Tinubu’s Ambassadorial Appointment For PDP Members
Commenting on the recent nomination of former governors Okezie Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for ambassadorial appointments by President Bola Tinubu, Turaki said there has been no official communication with the party on the matter.
“If they come to us, we will certainly consider it on its merit… but for now, we have not received any communication,” he noted.
He also insisted that Nigerians are not safe under the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-controlled federal government and called for a total overhaul of the nation’s security architecture.
“Nigerians are not safe on the streets, in their workplaces, on the farms, in the markets or in their homes. Every citizen lives and walks in perpetual fear. That must change,” he said.
