Growing up inspired by the nuns in her parish, Mercy joined a convent after secondary school and served in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. Just as she prepared to take her final vows, a mysterious call from Rome halted her plans.
Feeling misunderstood and accused of disobedience, Mercy left the convent abruptly, choosing to live a life outside the cloister walls. Within a year, she entered a relationship and became a single mother after the father abandoned her.
