Lagos State has shut down DONALD Restaurant, owned by the well-known nightlife entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, commonly known as Cubana Chief Priest, due to environmental violations.
The restaurant, located in the Lekki area of Lagos, was sealed after two of its employees were caught illegally dumping waste along the roadside. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), announced the closure on his X account.
The Chairman of the Lekki Estate Residents Association (LERA) alerted LAWMA early on Saturday, May 18, 2025, about the illegal waste dumping on Durosimi-Etti Street in Lekki Phase 1. Gbadegesin reported that a white Ford van with Abuja registration plates GWA 136E was caught in the act of improperly discharging waste. This vehicle was traced back to DONALD Restaurant, which is situated on Road 14 within the estate.
The suspects were apprehended at the scene by LERA’s Chief Security Officer and taken into custody at the LERA Secretariat. Reports indicate that the individuals attempted to bribe the security team with ₦100,000, an offer that was firmly rejected.
LAWMA’s Monitoring and Compliance Team was quickly deployed to the site, where they took control of the situation, apprehended the suspects, and sealed the premises due to severe environmental infractions in violation of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017. Gbadegesin stated that the suspects would face prosecution in accordance with the law.
Previously, in 2024, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency had also sealed the same restaurant because of ongoing noise pollution and other environmental violations.
