Abdulmumin Jibrin, an ally of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso in the 2023 elections, has met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House for the second time in two weeks.

The meeting, held on Sunday night from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., comes amid speculation over the growing anti-All Progressives Congress (APC) sentiments in parts of northern Nigeria.

Presidency sources hinted that discussions may have touched on the relationship between Tinubu and Kwankwaso, though Jibrin declined to reveal details when approached by State House correspondents.

Jibrin’s latest visit follows a July 30 meeting with the president, after which he told journalists their talks centred on national unity and development.

When asked if the discussions were linked to possible defection plans to the APC, he responded that “everything is open” and “a possibility.”
