Nigeria’s carrier, Air Peace Limited, has warned the public to beware of a fake social media advertisement claiming that the airline is offering a 30% discount on Africa flights.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the airline’s spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, Air Peace described the viral advert as fraudulent and not affiliated with the airline in any way.
“Our attention has been drawn to a sponsored post circulating on social media, advertising a purported ‘30% off Africa flights’ promotion and requesting members of the public to sign up to access this offer,” the statement read.
“We wish to categorically state that Air Peace Limited is not running any 30 per cent discount promotion. The said advertisement is fraudulent and not affiliated with Air Peace in any way.”
The airline cautioned the public to disregard such posts and avoid interacting with the promoters, warning that they were attempting to defraud unsuspecting individuals through fake offers and cloned websites.
Air Peace reiterated that no ongoing promotional campaign exists and that all official communications regarding discounts, ticket sales, or partnerships are announced only through verified channels.
“We therefore urge the public to disregard such posts and refrain from engaging with the promoters, as they are only attempting to defraud unsuspecting individuals,” Efe said.
The company added that it had received several reports from travellers who attempted to make bookings through unauthorised websites claiming affiliation with the airline.
