Alaafin of Oyo bestows chieftaincy titles on Seyi Tinubu, Yari

THE Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, has conferred prestigious chieftaincy titles on Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, in a vibrant ceremony that attracted dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond.

Held in the historic town of Oyo, the traditional installation highlighted the enduring cultural significance of the Oyo Empire and its role in celebrating leadership, service, and influence in contemporary society.

Senator Yari, a former Governor of Zamfara State and current representative of Zamfara West, received the title of Obaloyin of Yorubaland, while Seyi Tinubu, a prominent entrepreneur and business leader, was honoured with the title of Okanlomo of Yorubaland.

The event blended centuries-old Yoruba traditions with modern pageantry, featuring cultural rites, royal blessings, and colourful displays that brought the ancient city to life as guests from various walks of life gathered to witness the historic occasion.
