Samsung is already rolling out the December security patch to its Galaxy phones and tablets. As expected, the brand’s flagship models are the first to receive it. The firm started the rollout with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 last week. Now, users of the Galaxy S24 lineup, including the FE variant, are getting the December 2024 update.
Just like the latest monthly patches, the December one is fully focused on fixes for vulnerabilities. The company has been quite busy with the development of One UI 7 and even on the rollout of One UI 6.1.1. So, don’t expect to receive any new features until at least the availability of the next biggest One UI update.
Samsung rolling out the stable December 2024 update to the Galaxy S24 series, including the FE variant
Galaxy S24 series users could already access the December 2024 security patch from the One UI 7 beta program that started recently. However, the company is now sending it to those still running the stable Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1. After all, not everyone is willing to install beta software on their devices, so a stable rollout was to be expected soon. The list includes the Galaxy S24 FE, which doesn’t support the One UI 7 beta (yet).
The Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra are receiving the update under the build number S92xNKSS5AXKA. The company is rolling it out first in South Korea, its home country. The rollout in other regions shouldn’t take long to begin. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 FE is getting the patch in Europe under the build number S721BXXS3AXK6. It’s noteworthy that the firm listed the vulnerabilities fixed in the new update before sending it.
Once the OTA is available, your device will show a notification asking you to download and install it. However, you can always try to do a manual availability check by going to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Regarding One UI 7, you will have to wait at least until the launch of the Galaxy S25 series. According to leaks, Samsung will hold its next Unpacked event on January 22 or 23, 2025.
