Anne Hathaway and Adam Driver are set to star in Amazon’s new movie, Alone at Dawn, directed by Ron Howard.
Ron Howard is a writer, producer, and director best known for his work on The Da Vinci Code (2006), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), and Apollo 13 (1995). Hathaway and Driver haven’t worked together before, but in 2021, there was potential with the musical drama Annette. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, Hathaway had to drop out.
As reported by Deadline, Amazon MGM Studios drama Alone at Dawn will star both Adam Driver and Anne Hathaway, marking this as the first project where the two stars will appear on-screen together.
What Alone at Dawn’s Casting Means
Amazon’s new film will be based on the true story of the same name, written by Dan Schilling and Lori Chapman Longfritz.
Years following Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman’s harrowing fight to the death to ensure the safety of his fellow officers, an intelligence officer makes it their mission to prove he’s a hero. This investigation leads to Chapman receiving the Medal of Honor.
In the report, Howard was incredibly impressed with the story, and he immediately jumped on board as director. Driver is set to play the man at the heart of the story, John Chapman, and Hathaway will be appearing alongside as the intelligence officer.
Ron Howard is no stranger to true story adaptations and even won his first Oscar for Best Picture for his film A Beautiful Mind. Producers for Alone at Dawn include: Imagine Entertainment, The Hideaway Entertainment, Thurline Entertainment, alongside Kristy Grisham, William Connor, and Patrick Newall.
Our Take On Anne Hathaway’s New Role
Anne Hathaway has been booked and busy as she’s currently reprising her role as Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada 2 alongside Meryl Streep. She has also just completed filming Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie The Odyssey.
However, this isn’t the first Amazon MGM Studio film she’s been a part of. Most recently, she starred in The Idea of You, which received mixed reviews. Hathaway’s acting chops are quite ranged, and this new project will allow her to once again shine in a more serious role.
Hathaway last won an Oscar in 2013 for Best Supporting Actress in Les Misérables. Perhaps this true story will provide the opportunity for Hathaway to make room on her Oscar shelf once again.
