Renowned Human Rights Lawyer and activist, Dr. Maxwell Opara, has declared that President Bola Tinubu is vulnerable in the 2027 general election and could be defeated by any serious opposition candidate.
Speaking on Arise Television’s News Day programme, on Monday (today), Opara argued that the prevailing hardship in the country has made the Tinubu administration very easy for anyone to defeat.
Naijaonpoint reports that Opara’s remarks were in reaction to a comment by former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, who, in a weekend interview, boasted that he could easily beat his former political ally, Tinubu, in the next presidential election.

Opara, however, insisted it was not about Amaechi’s political weight but about the level of dissatisfaction among Nigerians.
“Anybody, anybody who is serious that comes out in 2027 will defeat President Tinubu. Be it El-Rufai, be it Atiku or Peter Obi. Any of them can defeat Tinubu,” he said.
The lawyer attributed Tinubu’s alleged unpopularity to unnecessary spending and wastages, the handling of the Nnamdi Kanu case, and worsening economic conditions.
“Nigerians are frustrated, and as a result of their frustration, they need a change. They don’t want to know who is coming. The only thing they don’t want to see is President Tinubu and APC,” Opara stated.
Amaechi Won’t Get ADC Ticket – Opara Asserts
Opara also dismissed Amaechi’s chances of securing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket, claiming it already belongs to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
“Before you go to heaven, you’ll first of all die. Amaechi will, first of all, get the ticket of ADC… I say no, he cannot get that ADC ticket. It is for Atiku Abubakar. They won’t even give it to Peter Obi. So if he’s thinking about getting that ticket, he should just wake up from sleep,” Opara added.
