Amazon Kindle Scribe Is an All-New Kindle Built for Reading and Writing

Amazon has announced the Kindle Scribe e-reader, its latest and largest Kindle device yet. The new Kindle Scribe also comes with support for a stylus, which the company just calls “pen”. This newly announced Scribe device comes with a 10.2-inch glare-free matte screen, 300ppi pixel density, a paperwhite display, and more.

The Amazon Kindle Scribe comes in three storage options 一 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. As for the stylus, by default, buyers will get a basic pen with the Scribe and there is also an optional Premium pen, which comes with a dedicated eraser on top and a customizable shortcut button. Let’s take a look at more details of the new e-reader from Amazon.

Amazon Kindle Scribe: Price and Availability

The Amazon Kindle Scribe starts at $339 for the base 16GB storage model and it is now available for pre-order in the US and will start shipping later this year. The product is expected to launch in Inida as well in the coming days.

Amazon Kindle Scribe: Specifications and Features

Starting with the display, the Kindle Scribe offers a large 10.2-inch glare-free Paperwhite display with 300 ppi pixel density. This is a touchscreen display. It features an auto-adjusting front light. The star of the show here is the new Pen support, which adds more value to the e-reader. The pen does not need to be charged and it magnetically attaches to the side of the Scribe.

As said earlier, the Kindle Scribe comes with a Basic or Premium pen option. Some of the tasks the pen can do include a variety of line widths, a highlighter tool, eraser tools, and an undo tool. The Premium Pen also includes a dedicated eraser on top and a customizable shortcut button.

The Kindle also comes with a new digital sticky notes on Kindle Scribe that allow users to easily add handwritten notes to books. Notes and highlights are automatically organized in one place to keep pages clutter-free. Users can also journal or take notes using a variety of templates, including to-do lists for tracking tasks and lined paper for meeting notes. All notebooks are automatically saved and backed up to the cloud for free, and in early 2023, all these will also be accessible via the Kindle app.

Further, the Send-to-Kindle feature allows one to import personal documents from a computer or phone to Kindle Scribe and write directly on PDF documents. You can also import and create handwritten sticky notes in Microsoft Word documents, web articles, and other document formats with adjustable font sizes and layout. From early 2023, you will be able to send documents to Kindle Scribe directly from within MS Word.

As for the books, the Kindle Scribe comes with Kindle Store with access to over 3 million titles. Other features include parental control, adjustable warm light, auto page rotation, and Wi-Fi connectivity. However, the device misses out on a waterproof rating.
