Former Super Eagles coach Emmanuel Amunike has praised Victor Osimhen for staying at Galatasaray during the winter transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigeria international’s goal scoring prowess has continued to pique the interest of many top clubs despite his season-long move from Napoli to join the Yellow-Reds.
Despite the multiple interests from other clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and others, the former Barcelona winger has hailed Osimhen’s decision to stay.
Manchester United remain in contact with Victor Osimhen ahead of a potential move.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Africafoot on Friday, Amunike further revealed that Osimhen’s decision was the right one, as a mid-season transfer could have created the impression that he was desperate for a move.
“I think he made the right decision to stay at Galatasaray during the winter transfer window and not rush into transfers, despite multiple interests,” the 54-year-old stated.
Amunike, further speaking, also called attention to the warm reception Osimhen received in Turkey, spotlighting the importance of repaying the fans’ faith in him.
“He has been massively welcomed and appreciated in Turkey, and it is only important that he thanks them with gratitude. He was able to regain his full potential, and all this is due to the fact that he was given a chance when he quarreled with the people of Naples,” Amunike added.
It would be recalled that Osimhen had a turbulent 2023-24 season at Napoli, which sparked his move away from Naples as an escape route for his sanity.

However, he chose to remain at Galatasaray, where he has found a strong support system from the fans and the opportunity to rediscover his best form.
Since his move to join Galatasaray, Osimhen has scored 12 Super Lig goals and five Europa League goals to tally a total of 17 goals in 22 games in total.
