The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced inspection of sensitive materials for Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State.
Speaking with journalists after receiving the materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Queen Agu, said INEC is fully prepared for a smooth and credible exercise.
Agu explained that the sensitive materials would be dispatched immediately to all local government areas to allow early deployment before voting begins.
Additionally, the Anambra Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Shogunle, stated that all security and logistical arrangements for the election have been completed.
Shogunle said, “There will be voting in all the polling units in Anambra state come Saturday except two polling units, and this is as a result of zero registered voters.
“No person has registered to vote in those two polling units. Otherwise, the elections will go ahead in all locations as expected on Saturday.
“And part of meeting the timeline is what we are witnessing here today, which is the commencement of the distribution of electoral materials from the central bank to all the local government areas in the state.
“By very early Saturday morning, all these electoral materials would arrive at the various polling stations across the state.
“Security has been put in place, on land and on the waterways as well as the air patrol.”
