In a post on his official X account, Amadi revealed disturbing reports that Sunday Igboho is allegedly threatening anyone who campaigns for opposition figures Peter Obi or Atiku Abubakar in Yoruba land. “This is where we are and everyone has decamped to the ruling party… This is a big shame,” he wrote, criticizing the state of governance and the political climate.
Amadi warned that the alignment of many political actors with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), combined with threats against opposition supporters, is weakening democracy and discouraging citizens from freely expressing their political choices. He blamed poor leadership and weak institutions for the worsening situation and expressed disappointment that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, after decades of preparation, has failed to deliver decisive solutions.
“This rhetoric, if true, could inflame ethnic and political tensions in the country,” Amadi cautioned, emphasizing that democracy thrives only when citizens feel safe to express their views.
