Android 15 is finally here. Just like we said, it would be over a month ago.
Two months after the Pixel 9 series was announced, Google is now starting to push out the update to Android 15 to all Pixel devices. It will be available for the Pixel 6 and later. The update will start rolling out today, and you can find the update by going to Settings > System > Updates and Check for Updates. It may not pull the update right away, as Google does tend to do a slow rollout of updates like this.
What’s new in Android 15?
So what exactly is new in Android 15? Lately, Google has been pushing a lot of its user-facing features out in feature drops, making the version of Android matter less and less. But Android 15 still does bring in a good amount of changes and features for Pixel and other Android devices.
One of the bigger features is Private Space. This is a new feature that allows you to lock up apps on your device, so others don’t see them when they’re using your phone. It works a lot like Samsung’s Secure Folder feature. Private Space is also a feature that debuted on iOS 18 this year on the iPhone side of things.
Another feature coming in Android 15 is partial screen sharing. Instead of recording the entire screen, you can now record a single app or a portion of it. Satellite Connectivity Support also arrives in Android 15, by adding UI elements that are needed to “ensure a consistent user experience across the satellite connectivity landscape.” This is going to work with the Emergency SOS feature that Google added in the Pixel 9 series a few months ago.
There’s plenty more features available in Android 15, of course. And even more in the October Pixel Feature Drop, which is quite large. So there’s plenty of new features for Pixel users to enjoy.
