Andy Robertson wants to ruin Jurgen Klopp’s night in the best possible way on Friday.
Robertson will captain Scotland in Munich against Germany, which kicks off Euro 2024 with his former boss watching in with pride – but not too much given he is a proud German.

Klopp brought Robertson to Liverpool in 2017 where he has become one of Europe’s best full-backs and got a congratulatory message from him last Friday where he became the men’s national team most capped captain.
The 2-2 draw with Finland marked the 49th time he wore the armband, marking the occasion with his cross forcing Finland’s own goal before picking out Lawrence Shankland for Scotland’s second.
“He texted me last week when I broke the record,” he revealed in a press conference on the eve of their Group A opener. “A very nice message from him that he didn’t have to do but I appreciated it massively. He said ‘congratulations’.
“I think he’s at the [Germany game], so it’ll be interesting to see who he supports – I’m sure there’s only one answer for that.
“I don’t need any advice from him, I think he knows that. Hopefully he enjoys the game but not too much!”
The 30-year-old knows he holds huge responsibility in leading a Scotland team playing in just their second major tournament in 26 years.
Scotland crashed out at the group stage with just one point at Euro 2020 after defeats to Croatia and the Czech Republic and a goalless draw with England.
But this time round Steve Clarke’s side are eyeing qualification to the knockout stages at the Euros for the first time.
Standing in their way are Germany, Switzerland and a Hungary side captained by Robertson’s Liverpool teammate Dominik Szoboszlai.
Ahead of Friday’s big clash, Robertson says Scotland are ready to mix it with the host nation and hope to cause them problems over the 90 minutes.

“We have so many incentives here, but becoming a legendary squad is the biggest,” he added.
“That’s what has to drive us forward, the thought of being the first Scotland team to make a knockout round.
“We want to make history. We know what’s at stake.
“What’s the worst that can happen? We join the list of teams who haven’t got out of a group?
“So let’s go for it. And if we respect the host nation, hopefully on the night we can cause them problems.
“We feel we’re ready and hopefully you’ll see that on Friday night.”
