Popular audio and charging accessories maker Anker has recalled nearly 80,000 Bluetooth speakers due to a fire risk. The recall includes products from the Anker Soundcore and PowerConf wireless speakers lineups. Notably, Amazon sold these speakers in the US and Canada in 2023. The company will provide a free replacement unit to the affected buyers.

Anker is recalling the Soundcore and PowerConf Bluetooth speakers due to fire risk

Anker has recalled the Soundcore and PowerConf speakers after getting 33 reports of fire incidents. The reports suggest that the speaker’s lithium-ion batteries were overheating and in some cases causing smoke. The Anker Soundcore speaker’s variant with the model number is “A3102”. As for the Anker PowerConf, the Bluetooth speaker affected by the fire risk is “A3302”. The serial numbers of the affected models are A3102016, A3302011, and A3302031.

Furthermore, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has compelled Anker to issue a recall of these two Bluetooth speakers. Notably, multiple reports of overheating batteries caused the recall of the affected speakers. Also, in some cases, the speakers created small fires. In one case, a user has received a minor burn injury.

This isn’t the first time Anker has had to recall products. Back in September, it recalled three of its battery products because of a fire risk. It also had to recall another speaker back in June.

Amazon sold these speakers in 2023

According to CPSC’s website, more than 69,000 of the Anker speakers affected by the fire risk were sold in the United States. In Canada, the company sold 9,764 units of these two affected speakers. Amazon sold these speakers in 2023. Notably, the price of these speakers ranges between $28 and $130.

You can check Anker’s website to see if your speaker’s SN code is affected by the issue. The company has advised the users of the recalled speakers to stop using them immediately. The brand has asked the users to stop charging from chargers or other external power sources as well. If more information is provided that pertains to the recall, this article will be updated.
