Anointing doesnt win election in Nigeria Israel DMW reacts after Asus Ighodalo lost at the supreme c

Israel DMW, singer Davido’s logistics manager, has taunted PDP’s Asue Ighodalo following his loss at the Supreme Court.

Kemi Filani reported that Ighodalo, Israel’s candidate of choice for the Edo State Governorship election, had approached the Apex court to annul Monday Okpebholor’s declaration as the winner of the September 2023 election.

However, in a ruling delivered on Thursday, July 10th, 2025, the Apex court dismissed Ighodalo’s petition because it lacked merit.

Reacting to it via his Instagram story, Israel shared a photo of Ighodalo receiving anointing from a clergyman, as he made him know that anointing doesn’t win elections in Nigeria.

“Anointing doesn’t win elections in Nigeria”.

A few weeks back, Israel called on the Governor of Edo State, Okpebholo, to resign with immediate effect. He noted that the state hasn’t had peace since he took over and claimed that the ancestors were angry with him over the pure robbery in the state. Israel urged him to hand over to his opponent, Asue Ighadalo, whom he believed the most Edolites voted for as their Governor.

Last year, during the Edo State gubernatorial election, Davido questioned the police directive for Edo citizens, as he declared the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the most dangerous institution in Nigeria and admonished Edo indigenes not to bow to it.

Explaining to those who queried him for interfering in the election, he revealed that his mother is from Edo and, as such, he was interested in the election.

Also, Last year, Israel promised never to relocate from his hometown, Benin City. Giving reasons, he stated that Benin is where a real Oba lives. He stated that even his boss, Davido, and Senator Daisy Danjuma already know his desire to live in his hometown. He declared that there is no place like Benin City and reaffirmed that he goes nowhere.
