A sweeping political shift is brewing in the Cross River North senatorial district, as Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe and other influential stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ahead of move to the All Progressives Congress.

This comes after the senator representing Cross River North had visited Aso Rock Villa to officially inform President Bola Tinubu of his defection to the ruling party.

Spokesperson to the Senator, John Agom, confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday.

According to him, Senator Jarigbe had also visited the APC State Chairman, Cross River, Chairman Alphonsus Eba, Esq, also notifying him of his defection and readiness to work with the leadership to reposition the party in the northern senatorial district.

He noted the Senator has started mobilising other political heavyweights to chart the new direction.

The senator noted that, the move, if finalised, is expected to significantly alter the political equation in the northern senatorial zone ahead of the next election cycle.

“My people should be assured that defecting to the ruling party will not stop me from empowering the constituents and embarking on people-oriented projects to alleviate the sufferings of the zone.

“I must also assure all the stakeholders that our regular consultations will not stop. There are better days ahead,” Senator Jarigbe stated.

This comes amid the gale of defection from the PDP, with the most recent being the Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri.
