The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has warned against division within the African Democratic Party (ADC).
Naijaonpoint reports that the caution comes after a 𝕏 user questioned Atiku’s silence over the attack by his supporters on former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi.
... read, “Atiku’s people want to insult Peter Obi without Atiku getting the heat back. Maybe they feel Atiku deserves respect and Peter Obi does not.”
In response, the former Vice President in a post via his 𝕏 handle said those who insult either Peter Obi or himself do not have the best interests of the leaders, the coalition under the ADC, or the country at heart.
Atiku cautioned supporters against internal attacks, stressing that such actions undermine opposition unity and Nigeria’s democratic progress.
According to him, internal divisions only serve the interests of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which he accused of benefiting from discord within the opposition.
He stressed the need for solidarity among opposition figures and supporters.
He wrote, “Anyone who insults Obi or Atiku do not mean well for the leaders, the Coalition ADC and for Nigeria and Nigerians. The only persons who benefit from such a civil war are the APC urban bandits who want to maintain the satanic status quo. We are better together!”
