The All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked claims that the party leadership was coercing people to leave their parties for the ruling party.
Spokesperson for the APC, Felix Morka while speaking on Arise Television said no individual has been forced to join the ruling party.
He said the massive defection of governors and members of the opposition, especially the PDP to APC is purely voluntary.
His words, “No one is coercing anyone, you know Delta Atte is my state and in my state, everyone knows that we don’t yield easily to intimidation.
“We are originally Beninlities and now we are Deltans and we don’t take kindly to people who intimate us.
“What you’re witnessing is purely voluntary, a decision by the governor and those with him to join our party. They are not joining our party because anyone in APC has intimidated or cajoled them,” Morka stated.
He further noted that the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori who dumped the PDP for the APC did so in his accord.
According to Morka, the governor had all the resources he needed to function and could not have been intimated by anyone
“Delta is one of the richest States in this country, at least going by the FAAC allocations, the governor is well-resourced,” he said.
The ruling party’s spokesperson further stated that there is no basis on which anyone can credibly suggest that the Delta governor was cajoled or intimidated into leaving the PDP for the APC with his supporters.
Speaking on the perceived rot and crisis within the PDP, Morka said the opposition is in a HoR mess.
He said, “You must also recognise that the PDP is in a hot mess as a party. How do you even explain the massive contradictions in the PDP?
“The fact that the party cannot get its own ass together, the leader of that party, supposedly, the man who was the presidential candidate for the PDP in the last election is neither here nor there.
“He is running amok talking about coalition,” he added.
