The All Progressives Congress (APC) has shut down its national secretariat in Abuja in honour of the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari.

Naijaonpoint reports that Buhari, the immediate past president of Nigeria, died on Sunday, July 13, in London after a prolonged undisclosed illness.

An official report had stated that Buhari will be buried on Tuesday, July 15, in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, according to state officials.

In a statement issued on Monday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, the ruling party announced that its national headquarters would remain closed from Monday, July 14, and reopen on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

“As directed by the acting national chairman of our great party, Hon. Bukar Dalori, the party’s national secretariat will be closed starting today, Monday, July 14 and will reopen on Thursday, July 17, 2025,” the statement read.

The party called on its members and Nigerians at large to observe the mourning period with solemnity and prayer.

“We urge party faithful to use this period of national mourning for quiet reflection and prayers for the repose of the soul of our departed leader,” Morka added.

The APC joins millions of Nigerians in paying tribute to the late president, who governed the country from 2015 to 2023 and previously served as military Head of State between 1983 and 1985.
