The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned that it will sanction any member found undermining party unity or showing disrespect to Governor Umar Namadi and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

State Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Nasiru Dahiru Jahun, issued the warning when he led a delegation of the State Executive Committee and chairmen of the party from all 27 local government areas to the Government House in Dutse to demonstrate loyalty to the governor.

Jahun said the visit was to reaffirm their allegiance to Governor Namadi, whom he described as the recognised leader of the APC in Jigawa. He added that the party in the state remains firmly behind both Namadi and President Tinubu, endorsing them for a second term in 2027.

The APC leaders also praised Namadi’s administration, describing its “wonderful transformation and unprecedented achievements within just two years” as historic in Jigawa’s development journey.

Reiterating the party’s stance, Jahun cautioned that sanctions would be imposed on any member who undermines unity or disrespects the state leadership.

“Our loyalty to the governor is like that of the comical character ‘Maha’ to his teacher — without objection, whatever Malam says, we will do; wherever he directs us, we will follow,” he said.

In response, Governor Namadi thanked the party leadership for their solidarity and assured them of continued cooperation.

He pledged fairness in dealing with party members and restated his administration’s focus on people-oriented policies and developmental projects in line with APC programmes.

However, the visit comes against the backdrop of growing internal rifts within the Jigawa APC. Factions loyal to former governor and current Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, and those aligned with Governor Namadi have recently clashed, with supporters trading strong words.

The disagreement, which began brewing after the 2023 transition, has now spilled into open confrontation, raising concerns about the party’s unity.
