Apple Intelligence won’t ship with the latest iPhone 16 series. However, Apple has confirmed the release roadmap for Apple Intelligence and its features.

Apple Intelligence roadmap confirms features and regional release

Apple has been hyping its Apple Intelligence, which is the company’s take on Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI). The company announced the Apple Intelligence suite of AI features back in June.

Apple has promised to offer AI-generated summarization, AI writing tools, and a lot more. However, the company couldn’t embed Apple Intelligence into the latest iPhone 16 series of iOS smartphones at the time of their launch.

Apple has, however, released a rough roadmap for Apple Intelligence, its features, and staggered regional deployment. The first of Apple Intelligence AI suite features will start arriving next month.

Apple plans to start rolling out iOS 18.1 update next month, and Apple Intelligence will be the highlight of this update. The Apple iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max would be the first to receive the Gen AI platform. Besides iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 will include Apple Intelligence.

Apple will reportedly limit the first rollout of Apple Intelligence to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK in December. Moreover, the company will offer the Gen AI suite in US English only. Support for other languages such as Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish will arrive next year.

Several key Gen AI features won’t arrive this year

During the initial phase of deployment, the Apple Intelligence AI suite will have a limited number of apps, features, and functions. Apple has indicated it will offer writing tools, which include rewriting, summarizing, and proofreading text, natural language search capabilities for photos, the ability to create movies from your memories based on a prompt, and an object eraser option dubbed Clean Up. The company will also offer call summaries and smart reply functionality next month.

Most of the eagerly awaited features will be available next year. In other words, iPhone users will have to wait for the Image Playground tool, Image Wand, Genmoji, the upgraded Siri, and ChatGPT integration. Moreover, previous reports have indicated Apple may charge for these features.
